Monitor for desktop
« on: April 15, 2014, 05:55:30 PM »
Hello Peeps,

My desktop PC monitor is dead now  :'(

So, i am looking for a new one :-)

I have searched on other forums and Dell U2413 seems to be a winner, however 30k is out of budget.

Any thoughts on other monitors available, i saw this one from LG : http://www.lg.com/in/monitors/lg-24MP55HQ , i am also open to viewsonic and AOC, would love to hear from someone who has first hand experience.

I am looking for a 24 inch monitor, which i can also use with my laptop for display purpose and movies. Has to be IPS LED.

Thanks for suggestion

Vivek

I was told to go for ips panel monitor. I have brought AOC 27 inch monitor. Works great. Got it for around Rs.19800. Before buying, confirn whether your desktop configuration and the screen size match or not. I stil couldnt find the satisfactory answer but connecting my laptop to 32 inch tv and confirming helped.

Thanks HotShoe, however that thread does not answer my question.

Thanks Doc. My laptop resolution is 1600x900 (16:9 aspect ratio), i will upgrade my laptop and will buy one with Full HD display :-)

Thanks

Vivek

Hi Vivek,

The best monitor (in the 23"- 24" range) is ASUS PA 238Q IPS 23" full HD Monitor. PA stands for Professional Art Series.

It costs about 17K & will be quite an experience when you start using it.

Check this link: http://www.infibeam.com/Monitor/i-Asus-Wide-IPS-LED-Monitor/P-CA-MO-Asus-PA238Q.html

I am sure that you can get it cheaper in Lamingtom road, Mumbai.

The next best option is Dell Ultra Sharp U2412M (under 20K budget) which is again an IPS panel.

Another option is to go for Dell Ultrasharp series U2312HM monitor for around 15k

http://www.infibeam.com/Monitor/i-Dell-23-inch-LED-Monitor/P-CA-MO-Dell-U2312HM.html

Dell has best customer service among other brands. For monitors(3yrs warranty), I would suggest to go with Dell.

Thanks everyone for your suggestion!

Visited Dell showroom on Sunday, they will get back to me with price of U2413 and U2414, if it fits the budget will buy that else the choice would be between HP, AOC and 2412

Cheers

Hi MayaV,

I was in a similar predicament a month ago when my previous monitor was all but gone..

Did a bit of research and finally got a Dell Ultrasharp U2414H from Flipkart.

I got it for 17k (The price was 19k + 2k Cashback for Citibank Card holders on the Flipkart Big sale day). But i noticed a week back that the price has shot upto 23k on flipkart.

The monitor is a 24inch, 16:9 full HD - Brilliant, accurate, and bright colors. No complaints at all. I use it for all my post production and gaming (I connect my PS3 to the monitor thru HDMI). Only drawback was the non-availability of a VGA slot. But since I dont have any VGA only devices, I did not find this to be too much of a constraint.

If you are looking at an even lesser budget, the best bet would be a Dell UltraSharp U2312M (16-19k right now). That one's aspect ratio is an even better 16:10 . Some people swear by the extra pixels.

Hi Kaushik,

I got this one : http://www.asus.com/in/Monitors_Projectors/PA238Q/overview/

A friend of mine runs a small IT setup and he has only ASUS monitors, so when i told him that, my monitor is dead, he simply sent me one, got a good deal, as he has around 100 of them. You should get it between 18-20k

Cheers

Vivek
