My take on the Sigma 35mm F 1.4 DG Art Lens
« on: November 13, 2014, 05:37:12 PM »
i recently took advantage of diwali sale offered by ebay and bought a Sigma 35mm F 1.4 DG Art lens. Since most of the technical aspects of the lens have already been reviewed by Pankaj http://www.photographyclubofindia.com/boards/index.php?topic=1060.0 I am going to restrict my review to pictures shot using the lens and 5D Mark III. I have not edited the pics in anyway, just cropped them where ever necessary.

ISO: 1600, Shutter: 1/60 sec

Rishabh, get the USB dock and:

a) Update the firmware if any update is available
b) Fine tune the lens to your camera

The Sigma dock is not expensive. This will make a difference to the images. Even if these were @ 1.4 they are soft. This lens produces images that 'pop'
You'll find plenty of examples here: https://www.flickr.com/groups/2064616@N24/pool/

Congratulations on the new lens :)

In case ur trying out what HD has suggested - do update this thread.

Some of the photos look a bit soft but im not sure if its due to using the 1.4 aperture or if its due to some flaw in the lens.

you also havent sharpened them in post procesing so that could be another reason. Shoot in jpeg after checking what your incamera sharpening is set to..then Try a few at 2.8 and check if they appear "sharper"
