I think the best time to buy - after the release of a newer model, then the previous models will be cheaper....
Hi Folks.
I have observed over the past few years that in the heat of competition manufacturers sometimes rush products into the marketplace which have not been adequately proven and vetted. I can think of examples where Canon and Nikon have done this.
Perhaps the best time to buy a new model that you like is about a year after its introduction. By then, its shortcomings will have been identified and corrected, if that is possible.
The very best camera support comes from not needing it in the first place. Manufacturers and vendors have proven to be sluggish more than a few times when new technology failed to perform as advertised and as expected.
One might say that a lot happens in technology within a year. They would be right. Just be mindful that being on the leading, bleeding edge of technology sometimes comes with a price and/or penalty. Are bragging rights really all that important to you? Some would say yes. I say, for me, no. If a camera meets your technical needs and is dependable, then that's probably good enough for the pictures. The best part of your pictures will come from your mind, not your camera anyway.
Happy Day.
