The moment captured is good. However, even though not always possible, try to get cleaner backgrounds and sharper subjects.

Very good moment.

Other than what is already said..

For birds try to keep some space around the subject (if possible in front ).
Try some post processing you can easily remove chromatic abrasion (CA) and some amount of final sharpening.

Finally you being Doc I need not tell you importance of Practice
