A streetcar named tram
« on: August 02, 2019, 05:00:26 AM »
An evening ride in one of the old trams cars of Kolkata.
It was a nostalgic ride.

Hello Prabir.

Nice rendering of the image.

The picture conveys to me the feeling that another ordinary, maybe even dull day at the workplace has ended, the riders are tired, and they just want to get home.

The black and white rendering of this unassuming conveyance does impart an almost-filmy, yesteryear quality.  A few scratches and dust marks would amplify that sensation (not that such should be done).  The slow shutter speed conveys to me a sensation of the vehicle in motion.  I gather also that this particular tram might be somehow symbolic of a working class which has for a few generations moved about in their daily travels this way.  One could believe that the picture is from forty years ago.

I notice that the writing is all in English.  That's an advantage working for India.  As India moves into the Economic First World, English will probably be very handy for providing internationally marketable goods and services... especially services.  Now that India is progressing so quickly, are such trams as this one in decline numerically?

Some say that those of us who like to talk about cameras should instead go and take pictures. I say we should go and also take pictures.

Thanks a lot Henry. The best thing that emerges from your comments is that you can read the minds of the image makers.
It also encourges the image makers.
