I think it is easier to ask pre-existing friends to join PCI than to ask pre-existing PCI members to meet you physically and give reference. Not really difficult if you think of alternative arrangements. :)

Point is basically to have a growing community of trustworthy people interested in photography. That's all. Simple :)

Well why dont you just ask your jjmpf friends to join and then give their references? We dont look at PCI as a community thats competing with jjmpf and we dont have any grudges or anything against jjmpf and its members...the more the merrier and there's more than enough room for everyone to happily co-exist.

I would like to mention that there is one slight problem... If you manage to register some one to help you in your reference check then that person needs to be active on PCI Forum in order to respond to the confirmation message from Vikram.

Currently i am facing that problem since one of my reference (Amitabha) is not active (in terms of posting) on the forum. He has sent an email confirmation but i do not know if that will be applicable.

Active? It only needs 5 posts to be able to reply to a PM.
Without a card, there is no negative impact on any forum member. They user experience is the same. All the rights and restrictions are same. The card is an addon for which some guidelines have been laid out for specific reasons. I think we must respect them.

Why not use QR Code on the card which can have much more details in the code.

Just a thought.
